Biography

Liu Zhao (刘钊) is a PhD candidate at HKU Sociology. He received his BA in French, and then acquired his MA in Art History from Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou. He is now working on historical anthro-sociology with a specific interest in historical events, revolutionary myth and collective memory.

Outside of academic life, he is also a professional pianist and an expert in Chinese tea culture. In 2012, he performed a sound installation Clair de Lune with a famous English contemporary artist Kate Paterson in Guangzhou Opera House.
