Mr Adrian Kin Cheung Yan

MPhil Student



Adrian YAN has been a full-time MPhil student at HKU Sociology from 2016 to 2019. Born and raised in Hong Kong, he obtained his bachelor’s degree in education from HKU, double-majoring in Liberal Studies and Sociology. He has received teacher training and undergone school placements during his undergraduate studies. His master’s thesis explores the strategies adopted by Liberal Studies teachers in Hong Kong to cope with the teaching challenges amidst social schism.

Upon completion of his MPhil degree, Adrian is now pursuing his PhD in Education at the Institute of Education, University College London (UCL), researching on curriculum development and teacher professionalism. His research interest includes sociology of education, curriculum studies and citizenship education, with parallel interests in teacher professionalism and sociology of knowledge.
