Dan Liu is a full-time PhD student at HKU Sociology. She received her bachelor’s degree in social work from Sichuan University, China and master’s degree in Sociology from Renmin University of China.
Her research interests include medical sociology, social aspects of health and illness, sociology of body and knowledge production of medicine. She is consistently focusing on the process of knowledge production in medical situations and meaning-making process through social interactions, which developed her strong interest on two major projects. One is the lived experience of people affected by congenital deformities, especially people with cleft lip and palate. The other is the practice and development of a national early intervention program in non-urban areas of China.
