Liu Dan is a full-time PhD student at HKU Sociology. She received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Sichuan University, China and master’s degree in Sociology from Renmin University of China.

Her research interests include medical sociology, sociology of body and knowledge production of medicine. She is consistently focusing on the lived experience of people affected by congenital deformities, especially people with cleft lip and palate, and the process of knowledge production between social interactions in medical situations.
