PAN Fan is a full-time PhD student at HKU Sociology. Before joining HKU, he was a research assistant at the Institute of Empirical Legal Studies, Peking University. He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from Xiamen University Malaysia and master’s degree in social sciences (criminology) from HKU.

His main research interest is the dynamic expansion of criminal networks and how offenders in different social structures are connected, ultimately determining their success and persistence. He is also interested in how deviant behaviour intersects with the social context in which it occurs.
