Dr Gina C Y Yang
  • Dr. Yang's research focuses on youth transitions from school to work in Kinmen, Taiwan, Hong Kong's community economy and youth employment issues, young people's career and migration aspirations in both Hong Kong and Taiwan. She has published in Journal of Youth Studies, and Population, Space and Place, and contributed a chapter to the edited collection Dystopian Emotions: Emotional Landscapes and Dark Futures (Bristol University Press, 2021). Dr. Yang's current research focus is on comparative youth engagement in gender education, social and cultural innovation.

     

    She also has extensive teaching experience in both undergraduate and graduate levels in cultural studies, education, gender studies and sociology. In addition to her academic work, she engages with local community groups as a leadership trainer and oral historian. Recently, she co-authored a publication on the history of Nam Chung, Hong Kong, focusing on the intersection between women’s collectives, co-living practices and Hong Kong history. Dr. Yang also has wide-ranging professional experience in management roles with non-governmental organizations on gender and education.
