Mr John Andrew “Andoy” G. Evangelista
  • John Andrew G. Evangelista or Andoy, for many, identifies as a queer scholar. He grew up in the Philippines where conservative notions about sexuality remain prevalent. Her experiences in such social conditions animate his research work which aims to address the complex relationship between queerness and nationhood. Particularly, she seeks to investigate the colonial and post-colonial conditions that shape  articulations of nationalist claims within queer rights movements in the Philippines. His work converses with queer theories, contentious politics, and nationalism studies.
