Dr Araki received the Best Paper Award from the Japan Society of Educational Sociology (JSES)

Dr Araki received the Best Paper Award from the Japan Society of Educational Sociology (JSES) for his article in the American Sociological Review (“Educational Expansion, Skills Diffusion, and the Economic Value of Credentials and Skills” American Sociological Review, 2020, 85(1): 128-175 https://doi.org/10.1177/0003122419897873).
This prestigious award is given to outstanding journal papers in the field of sociology of education published in the past two years. The Award Committee of JSES mentions Dr Araki’s article as “an ambitious work with the exemplary literature review and rigorous statistical analyses using the large-scale international survey data to show a generalisable model on the associations between education, skills, and labour market outcomes, which will provoke multidisciplinary discussions” and “an excellent example particularly for Japanese scholars who aim to publish their work in world-leading journals”.
