Lilián García
  • Lilián García is currently a full-time PhD student at the Faculty of Sociology, under the supervision of Prof. David A Palmer. Before completing her BA at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), she obtained a scholarship to study Chinese at the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). After completing her BA, Lilian worked as a Chinese language instructor at the National School of Languages, Linguistics, and Translation (ENALLT, UNAM). While doing her MA studies at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), she participated in the 2021 HKU Summer Research Programme. She also worked as a research assistant at the Faculty of Education, HKU. Along with her university studies, Lilián has been continually engaged in the history of art studies, literature, and language studies.

  • Lilián’s research interests revolve around culture through all   possible approaches, i.e., arts, sciences, language, etc. Topics of   particular interest for her are religion and spirituality (especially   Buddhism and Eastern religions), transnational religious circulations, and   cultural and religious interactions.

  • Her current research is about Buddhist syncretism in contemporary   Mexico.
