We are pleased to have Professor Reed visiting our department. A meeting exclusively for Social Sciences RPG students with Professor Reed has been arranged. It is a great opportunity for our students to learn how the editor of a major journal makes decisions.

About the speaker:Holly E. Reed, Ph.D., is a full professor of Sociology at Queens College, City University of New York (CUNY). She is also a doctoral faculty member in Sociology at The CUNY Graduate Center, an affiliated faculty member of the CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy, and an associate of the CUNY Institute for Demographic Research. Since 2022, Dr. Reed has served as Editor-in-Chief of International Migration Review. Her research on human migration, including refugee and forced migration, demographic and health transitions, and socioeconomic development, in sub-Saharan Africa and the United States, has been published in top demography and sociology journals. Before her academic career, she was a program officer and researcher for the Committee on Population of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Reed holds a Ph.D. in Sociology from Brown University, an M.A. in Demography, and a B.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
