CHEN Jialin is a full-time PhD student at HKU Sociology. Her past educational experience equipped her with a diverse and interdisciplinary perspective. She obtained her bachelor and master’s degree at Sun Yat-sen University majoring English Language and Literature and got her second master’s degree in the Department of Religious Studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Her research interests include Chinese folk religion, Daoism, and spirituality. Currently, she focuses on the intersection of religion and gender in the case of female spirit media in rural China.
