This course provides an introduction to the logic of research design and techniques of qualitative research methods. Students will be exposed to the major steps of the research process, from formulating a research question, devising appropriate empirical methods, executing the research, to writing a research report. The course will also examine a wide range of qualitative methods, from ethnographies, interviews, and historical methods for students to familiarize themselves with the logic of inquiry. Lastly, the course will also consider the ethics of conducting research on human subjects.
